Performance Showcase

The Performance Showcase is an opportunity for dancers to perform their pieces in a supportive and non-competitive environment. Each performance will be critiqued by the ASH faculty, however, no scores will be given.

The Performance Showcase will be held on Saturday evening, and attendance is free of charge. We suggest arriving early as seating is limited.

NOTE: In select cities Performance Showcases may be held on both Friday and Saturday.

Critiques will be uploaded to your online Studio or Independent registration account.

ENTERTAINMENT PICK

The ASH faculty will be selecting routines from the Performance Showcase that have exhibited outstanding entertainment value. Entertainment Picks will receive FREE entrance fees to perform the routine in the Open Competition at Artists Simply Human’s theDANCEproject Nationals in Orlando, FL, in addition to a $100 voucher to be used towards future Performance Showcase entrance fees during the 18/19 regional tour season.

TECHNICAL EXECUTION PICK

The ASH faculty will be selecting routines from the Performance Showcase that have exhibited outstanding technical execution. Technical Execution Picks will receive FREE entrance fees to perform the routine in the Open Competition at Artists Simply Human’s theDANCEproject Nationals in Orlando, FL, in addition to a $100 voucher to be used towards future Performance Showcase entrance fees during the 18/19 regional tour season.

CHOREOGRAPHY PICK

The ASH faculty will be selecting routines from the Performance Showcase that has exhibited outstanding choreography. Choreography Picks will receive FREE entrance fees to perform the routine in the Open Competition at Artists Simply Human’s theDANCEproject Nationals in Orlando, FL, in addition to a $100 voucher to be used towards future Performance Showcase entrance fees during the 18/19 regional tour season. 

STUDIO SELECTIONS

Each studio registering a minimum of 5 duet, trio or group dances will be eligible to receive a Studio Selection Award. Studio Selections will receive FREE entrance fees to perform the routine in the Open Competition at Artists Simply Human’s theDANCEproject Nationals in Orlando, FL, in addition to a $250 voucher to be used towards future Performance Showcase entrance fees during the 18/19 regional tour season.

STANDOUT ROUTINES

The ASH faculty will be choosing standout routines from the Performance Showcase that they would like to recognize for exceptional all around choreography/entertainment/performance/technique.  Standout routines will receive FREE entrance fees to perform the routine in the Open Competition at Artists Simply Human’s theDANCEproject Nationals in Orlando, FL, in addition to a $100 voucher to be used towards future Performance Showcase entrance fees during the 18/19 regional tour season. 

JUDGES CHOICE

The ASH faculty will be choosing standout routines from the Performance Showcase that they would like to recognize for exceptional all around choreography/entertainment/performance/technique.  Judges Choice routines will receive FREE entrance fees to perform the routine in the Open Competition at Artists Simply Human’s theDANCEproject Nationals in Orlando, FL, a $100 (solo/duet or trio) or a $250 (group) voucher to be used towards future Performance Showcase entrance fees during the 18/19 regional tour season and an invitation to perform the routine in the Closing Show on Sunday.

TIME LIMIT

Solos are allowed a maximum performance time of 2.5 minutes. Duets/Trios and  Small Groups (4-9 Dancers) are allowed a maximum performance time of 3 minutes, Large Groups (10-24 Dancers) are allowed a maximum performance time of 4 minutes, and Productions (25+ Dancers) are allowed a maximum performance time of 5 minutes. For dances exceeding the allowed minutes, a time extension is available.

RULES & GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Registration is based on a first come, first serve basis.  Due to time restraints, once maximum capacity is reached, we will no longer accept Performance Showcase registrations.
  • If a minimum number of entries is not reached, ASH Productions reserves the right to cancel the Performance Showcase. In the event of a cancellation, ASH Productions will issue a full refund for Performance Showcase fees only.
  • To participate in the Performance Showcase, dancers must be registered for the full workshop (one day attendees are not eligible to participate in the Performance Showcase).
  • Dancers may perform solos and duets/trios in the Performance Showcase without a Teacher or Studio Representative registered.  In order to perform a group number (4+ dancers) in the Performance Showcase, a Teacher or Studio Representative must be registered for the full workshop.
  • Independent dancers may participate in the Performance Showcase.
  • Award certificates received when a dancer is registered with a studio, may not be valid when registering as an independent or with another studio without written consent from the original studio director.  NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • All routines must be appropriate for family viewing.
  • Teachers may not coach dancers during performance.
  • No dangerous items may be used in the routine such as glass, fire or live animals.
  • Props are fine, but must be carried on and off the stage by the performers only. Props may not be larger than 8 feet tall.
  • Please leave the stage area clean for the next performers.
  • Stage Dimensions – 24 feet deep x 40 feet wide.
  • Access for crossovers will depend on the venue setup. Please plan entrances and exits accordingly for all situations.
  • All program changes must be made at least two weeks prior to the event.
  • There will be strict adherence to the Performance Showcase program order. Please be ready to perform when scheduled.
  • Judges Choice’s are eligible to perform in the Closing Show.
  • All performers must be students. NO TEACHERS OR PROFESSIONAL DANCERS.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

All music must be uploaded to your online Studio or Independent registration account at least one week prior to the start of the event. A backup CD or USB of all music should be turned in at the registration booth.
