ASH Assistant Audition Fees

In order to register for the ASH Assistant Audition, dancers must have received either an ASH Apprentice or ASH Apprentice Runner Up at a regional event in the 23/24 Season. Registering for the Convention is required in order to participate in the ASH Assistant Audition. 

Anyone registered for the ASH Assistant Audition does not need to register and perform a solo twice, as in past years. However, anyone registered for the ASH Assistant Audition MUST have at least one solo registered for the Open Competition. This solo is NOT included in the ASH Assistant Audition Fee.

Anyone who wishes to be considered for both ASH Assistant and ASH The Company must register for both auditions. However, the ASH The Company Audition Fee will be waived if you are registered for the ASH Assistant Audition.


Included in the ASH Assistant Audition Fee:

  • ASH Assistant Live Audition.
  • Gala Closing Number Choreography and Rehearsals (See below for more information.)
  • Personalized Jacket (Exclusively designed for ASH Assistant Auditioners ONLY.) You must register by the Early Bird Deadline to receive personalization and guaranteed sizing.
  • ASH The Company Live Audition. (In order to be eligible for both ASH Assistant and ASH The Company, you must register for both but if you are registered for the ASH Assistant Audition, the ASH The Company Audition is free of charge.)

 

GENERAL RULES

This is the culmination of the ASH Apprentice/ASH Apprentice Runner Up Scholarship program. There is no scoring or weighted scoring of any kind. This is also an “Add- On” to your convention registration and is to audition to become an ASH Assistant or ASH The Company Member for the 2024-2025 Season. There is a separate audition for ASH The Company. In order to be eligible for both ASH Assistant and ASH The Company, you must register for both auditions. However, if you are registered for the ASH Assistant Audition, the ASH The Company Audition is free of charge.

All auditioners are referred to as “ASH Assistant Auditioners” and, at registration, are given a special colored label on which their scholarship number is printed in order to signal to all Faculty that they are auditioning to become an ASH Assistant or ASH The Company Member. There are 3 parts of the ASH Assistant Audition:

    1. Open Competition Solo: A prepared solo must be registered for the Open Competition (not included in Assistant Audition Fee).
    2. Live Audition: This is a closed audition and will be run by ASH’s Director and Faculty in Attendance.
    3. Convention Class Work: All Auditioners are observed by all ASH Faculty in attendance. Work ethic, responsibility, focus, technique and speed of learning are aspects that are important to becoming an ASH Assistant and are observed by all decision-makers.

 

PREREQUISITES

  • To be eligible to register for the ASH Assistant Audition at Nationals, you must have received an ASH Apprentice or ASH Apprentice Runner Up Scholarship at a 23/24 Regional event.
  • Dancers MUST audition in the age group in which they received their ASH Apprentice or ASH Apprentice Runner Up Scholarship.
  • Dancers must be able to attend the ASH Assistant Audition, perform a solo in the Open Competition, attend convention classes, closing number rehearsals and the Gala to participate.

 

PROCESS

ASH Assistant Auditioners are required to register a solo (already choreographed) in the Open Competition. The solo fee is NOT included in the ASH Assistant Audition Fee. This will be performed on the ASH stage as part of the Open Competition. The Open Competition is open for teachers, dancers and parents to watch (No wristband needed) and is broadcast live at www.ASHWebcast.com.

Next, will be the Live Audition process. Dancers will learn combinations from the ASH Faculty. Once they learn all combinations, they will audition in front of the ASH Faculty. (Bring clothes and shoes for ALL styles!). This audition is closed. No teachers or parents will be allowed in the room for any reason.

Finally, all 24/25 ASH Assistants will be announced at the Gala on the final night of Nationals!

ASSISTANT COMMITMENTS

TRAVEL

  • ASH Assistants must attend the ASH Assistant/Company weekend in August 2024 in Orlando, FL, a minimum of eight regional cities, and must attend Nationals in Orlando, FL
  • Assistants will learn one group piece for the Welcome Show. In select cities ASH Assistants may be asked to perform a solo in the closing show. ASH events include additional classes that are held on Friday evenings. ASH Assistant rehearsal will be held Thursday night, Friday morning/afternoon or Saturday morning.

 

DUTIES

  • ASH Assistants must stay with the studio they received their title with, if you change/ leave the studio, you will lose you ASH Assistant title.
  • Perform in Welcome and Closing Shows, assist faculty in all classes in your assigned level unless asked to assist in another level, assist at scholarship auditions, attend rehearsals, attend seminars, participate in backstage duties for Performance Showcase, if your studio is not in attendance, and always arrive early.
  • As part of their professional training, ASH Assistants will be required to work backstage during the Performance Showcase. It is expected that ASH Assistants will maintain a clean and put-together appearance, a clean and orderly space backstage, and a positive attitude toward all participants. Dress code for showcase is pants and a top or a long dress only! No skirts, shorts, or short dresses are allowed. ASH Assistants are not permitted to use their phone during work time. This is to devote the attention needed to all Showcase participants, safety of backstage, and to continue setting a positive example for all attendees to follow.

 

SAFETY AND GUARDIANSHIP

  • Assistants under the age of 18 must be accompanied to each event by a parent or designated guardian. Should an ASH Assistant request to be accompanied by anyone other than the signed parent or guardian below, notification must be given to and approved by the Convention Manager prior to the start of the event. ASH Productions shall not act as a guardian and is not responsible for the well-being of any ASH Assistant.

ASH The Company Audition

 

ASH THE COMPANY AUDITION FEE

There is a required fee of $100.00 to audition for ASH The Company. This is an “Add- On” to your convention registration. If you are registered for the ASH Assistant Audition and wish to be eligible for ASH The Company, you must still register for the ASH The Company Audition, however, the fee will be waived.

GENERAL INFORMATION

ASH The Company is a training program and supplement to a dancer’s studio training. This program is a bridge from ASH attendee to ASH Assistant. Company members are required to attend a minimum of 4 cities in which the program is held, however they receive a full year scholarship to all ASH events, should they wish to attend more events. The program gives a taste of what touring with a convention is like, they will learn choreography to perform in the Closing Show, work the Performance Showcase and more! After the season is complete, at our Nationals event, one Company Member will be chosen as an ASH Assistant by the ASH Faculty. The goal is for Company Members to dive deeper in their training and dance experience while invigorating them to push themselves to the next level!

ASH THE COMPANY COMMITMENTS

Travel & Attendence

ASH The Company Members must attend the ASH Assistant/Company weekend in August 2024 in Orlando, FL, a minimum of four regional cities in which ASH The Company is hosted, and must attend Nationals in Orlando, FL.

Mandatory Rehearsal Date: Company Members will learn group piece choreography for the Closing Show. There will be rehearsals one day before the start of the Orlando event to review the choreography.

Members will have rehearsal as early as Friday at 12:00 PM in each regional city. Please plan your travel accordingly so you are able to attend all rehearsals, classes and activities. An exact schedule will be emailed to you one week prior to the event.

 

Duties at Events

ASH The Company Members must attend all classes in your assigned level, scholarship auditions, rehearsals, seminars, mini movers classes, participate in backstage duties for Performance Showcase (if your studio is not in attendance), and perform in the Closing Show.

As part of their professional training, ASH The Company Members will be required to work backstage during the Performance Showcase.

Members will wear only ASH Merchandise while taking class and/or assisting. ASH The Company Members will be required to purchase specific ASH Merchandise items to wear while at the event, merchandise will be presented to you at the first city of the 24/25 Season, in Orlando.

 

Safety & Guardianship

Members shall not fraternize with faculty, staff, and/or crew. Members are not permitted to be alone with anyone associated with ASH Productions. All interactions with staff, crew, and faculty must remain in public and/or common areas. Members are not permitted to contact staff, crew, or faculty via phone call, social media, or text messaging unless approved to do so by the Director or Convention Manager.

Members under the age of 18 must be accompanied to each event by a parent or designated guardian. Miscellaneous

Members must stay with the studio with which they received their title, if you change/ leave the studio, you will lose your status.

Photos and Videos of Members may be used by ASH Productions for promotional purposes. No video taping combinations on stage.

Members will start taking each class on the floor, but at any point can be called upon to assist onstage.

Members will receive mentoring from ASH The Company Director and/or an ASH Faculty at the beginning of every city.

A minimum of one ASH The Company Member is guaranteed to be chosen as an ASH Assistant for the 2025/2026 Season (to be chosen via ASH Assistant Audition at 2025 Nationals)

ASH The Company members are permitted to perform solos, duet/trios and groups in any Performance Showcase, however you are not eligible to audition for scholarships at any regional city since you will attend Nationals under ASH Apprentice status. No discounts for Performance Showcase entries are available. Members must register Performance Showcase routines through their online registration account which will be set up once the initial fee is paid.

 

PAYMENT

ASH accepts Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express, checks or money orders. Checks or money orders must be postmarked before the Early Bird Discount Deadline in order to secure the Early Bird rate. If a check is returned, you will be assessed a $30.00 fee. Only cash and credit cards are accepted when registering at the door or paying a final balance upon check-in at Registration. *All funds must be paid in U.S. currency only. No International, Canadian or Foreign checks will be accepted.

 

REFUND POLICY

Unless ASH is forced to cancel due to Acts of God, CDC, local, state, or federal government mandates, ASH will not provide a refund under any circumstance. If the event is held and a dancer cannot attend due to injury or illness, you must contact the ASH Office at least 24 hours prior to the start of the event. ASH will issue a credit statement to be used up to one year from the date of issue for convention and/or performance showcase fees provided the dancer submits a doctor’s note within 30 days via email to info@ashproductions.com.
