All dancers registered for theDANCEproject Nationals are eligible to participate in the Open Competition. Each registration can bring as many pieces as they would like, there is a limit to 3 solos per dancer. Registration is based on a first come, first serve basis. There is no pre-qualification at regionals required to participate.
Solo Competition – Each solo performance will be critiqued and given a score. The Solo Competition will be conducted in two rounds. The top ten scoring solos in the Artists In Training (Ages 7 – 10), Junior (Ages 11 – 14) and Senior (Ages 15+) age divisions will advance to round two for an improv section of the competition. Each semi-finalist will be given one minute to improv. The top three finalists from each age division will be announced and awarded a cash prize during the Scholarship Announcement. The top scoring solo in each age division will be invited to perform their solo in the Gala.
Duet/Trio and Group Competition – Each duet, trio and group number will be critiqued and given a score. The top ten scoring duet / trio and top ten scoring group dances will be announced at the Placement Awards. The top three scoring duet / trio and top three scoring group dances will be announced at the Scholarship Announcements and will be awarded a cash prize. The ASH Faculty will be choosing Open Competition Standouts from the top ten duet / trio routines and top ten group routines, and will be invited to perform in the gala. In lieu of trophies, ASH Productions will be donating $5.00 per routine in the Open Competition to one of three selected charities. Critiques and scores will be available for download via your online Studio or Independent registration account.
